William and I both lived in Atlanta as children and grew up attending Embry Hills church of Christ together. I moved away to Texas when I was 8 years old, but still tried to keep up over the years with friends from my time in Georgia. William and I connected over social media periodically over the years, but just as friends (although I always thought he was cute!). In 2018, we both were in the wedding party of our good friends, Drew and Sarah Hull, which was the first time we had seen each other since childhood. In June 2019, we began talking more frequently, and in December 2019, we met up in Nashville for our first "date" (which really was a whole weekend of dates)! We started dating officially after that trip, and within 2 months I had accepted a job in Atlanta. We dated long distance until July 2020 (enduring many long weeks apart due to the global pandemic) and now live just 15 minutes apart in the same city where we first met as kids.
November 14th, 2020 started out with coffee and Bible reading together at Con Leche coffee shop. We then headed down to the High Museum of Art (which was reminiscent of a date we took to the Dallas Museum of Art on William's first visit to Texas to meet my family), and spent the afternoon there. Afterwards, we received a call from some friends asking if we wanted to meet at Piedmont Park to hang out and grab dinner. So we headed to the park, and walked towards the lake. As we got closer to the lake, I noticed a white cloth covered with red roses (the same roses William first gave me in Nashville when we met for our first date), spread over an outlook with a beautiful view of the lake and skyline. That's when I realized it was really happening! He popped the question, and of course I said YES! William had also arranged a beautiful party afterwards to celebrate, where my family and best friend surprised me. It was such a special day!
