James started a new job in January 2017 and on his first day noticed this kind and beautiful woman working the sandwich station. The next few months consisted of quietly flirting back and forth in the kitchen, until James got the confidence to ask Amanda to hang out after work one night with his friends Matty and Dillon. He must have done something right that night, because shortly afterwards, Amanda invited James to go out with her & her friends to The Imperial in Claremont, NH. A few weeks later, James and Amanda hiked out to a remote pond where they went swimming on a warm, sunny June day. We swam out to a small exposed rock, and there James asked Amanda to be his girlfriend. Amanda said, "Yes!"

James proposed to Amanda at the top of Cadillac Mountain, in Acadia National Park, Maine, after 2 and half hours of sitting in the cold waiting for the sun to rise. Just as the sun was about to peak over the horizon, all of the fog and clouds we had been wishing away parted and we had a perfect view. It was cold, we were tired, and hungry as all be, but Gina insisted on pictures. James took a photo for his brother and sister in law whilst Amanda gathered herself (being neither a morning person nor a person that likes the cold, this morning had been a challenge. And SOMEONE wouldn't let her put her hands in his pockets... hmmm, wonder why??). She quickly hustled over after James called to her for a photo, and as she went to tuck herself under his arm, he began to kneel. Confused, cold, and frankly annoyed, Amanda exclaimed "What are you doing! Get up!" thinking he was messing with her. Then came the ring. James kneeled, presenting a small wooden box, grinning from ear to ear, while Amanda waited for him to say something. Alas, James remained silent as he stood and began to hug her. "Were you gonna ask me something?" she asked. Then, in front of 100+ strangers, he asked the long awaited question through shivers, she exclaimed "Yeah I will!".
