Flight
There are multiple choices when flying into Washington, DC but Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is the closest to downtown DC. It is only a 15 minute drive from downtown and is metro accessible via the Yellow and Blue metro lines. If you're staying at the Conrad or Renaissance, you can take the yellow line in the direction of Greenbelt and get off at the Gallery Place (Chinatown) stop. Both hotels are only a few blocks walking distance from there. The Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) is located between Baltimore and DC about 45 minutes from DC. It is a major Southwest hub and travelers have the option of taking the Marc train to Union Station for downtown DC access. Finally, Dulles International Airport (IAD) is DC's biggest airport and is located about 40 minutes from downtown DC in Northern Virginia. Taxis, Uber, and Lyft are available at all airports and please note that all driving times do not account for rush hour traffic.
Travel Note
Getting around DC is very easy by metro. You can purchase a SmarTrip card at any metro stop and load it there. Metro's website provides up-to-date information on train and bus schedules, a "Plan My Trip" feature, and details about each station and its exits: https://www.wmata.com/ You can also download the app! Uber and Lyft are both available in DC, or, if you're feeling more adventurous, try Capital Bikeshare or a Lime scooter...just don't leave it in the middle of sidewalk :)
