We met during the summer of 2014 through mutual friends after Stephen (or Struwve, as many call him) moved to Milwaukee from Minnesota. While in college, Struwve worked for the Wilderness Canoe Base on Seagull Lake in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Becky grew up with one of his coworkers who was from Racine and at the time lived with Becky’s friend, Alex, and around the corner from Becky’s best friend, Lizzie, in Milwaukee. We started seeing more of each other after Becky graduated from college and moved back to the area. Struwve worked up the courage to ask Becky on a date in the spring of 2015 and made things official a few months later. 10 years later, and we have: • Lived apart while Becky was in graduate school. • Moved and lived in northern Michigan for four years. • Have gone on many wonderful adventures together to the Boundary Waters, Oaxaca and Tanetze in Mexico, the upper peninsula of Michigan, the north shore of Minnesota, northern Wisconsin, northern California, New Hampshire, Belize, and even Iowa (because Struwve really wanted to go there for his 26th birthday…). • Adopted our dogs, Maple and Jake. • Moved back to Stevens Point, Wisconsin, where we plan to stay! • Struwve went “back to school” to learn how to tune pianos and started his own business, Point Piano Service. • Much, much more! Last September we were making plans to go on a canoe trip, just the two of us. After patiently waiting for 10 years, Becky asked Struwve if he planned to propose on the trip. Much to Becky’s disappointment, he assured her that he didn’t. Imagine her surprise when several days later he pulled a ring box out of his pocket while at one of their favorite campsites on Kekekabic Lake. Over ten years we have built a really beautiful life together, and we're so happy to have people from all walks of that life joining us for our special day.
