Things To Do

Middle of the World City

Middle of the World City

PLACE TO VISIT, Quito, Ecuador

There are 2 middle of the worlds. The real one, and the famous monument one. We recommend going to the famous monument one because you can do the same things you do at the real one but better!! This place is amazing because it’s called “the city of the middle of the world” and it’s a little town that you can walk around, see artesanal stores and explore not only about the middle of the world but also about Ecuador. We recommend going to Cafe Guayasamin, which is right in front of the monument and get a spot near the window to enjoy the view of the monument!! Also, make sure to bring your passports because in the shops you can get your passport stamped with the middle of the world stamp!! Another thing here is definitely going in the monument and all the way up! Amazing pictures if you go on a sunny day! If you’re planning to go to Mercado Artesanal, don’t buy souvenirs there because they are way more expensive.

PLACE TO VISIT, Quito, Ecuador

This place is where you buy everything artesanal and made by hand. Alpaca sweaters, alpaca blankets, hand made shirts, real leather purses, silver jewelry (for crazy cheap), house decorations! Also, I recommend trying the ice creams on isle 3 or 4, they are the only ice cream store there. This ice cream is called “helado de paila”, which is made out of fruit. ITS DELICIOUS!! Here you can buy Coffee and Chocolate: our personal favorite coffee is “Velez: Lojano” or “Montañez”, both are really good. For chocolate, we love PACARI their 70% dark chocolate and the passion fruit. And for milk chocolate: Republica del cacao is the best. RECOMMENDATIONS: they’re going to try to charge you more because you’re tourist, so every time you ask for the price, offer half of the price and work your way up. Or act like you’re leaving, and they’ll offer a good price. Have fun shopping!

PLACE TO VISIT, Quito, Ecuador

We love Teleferico because of the view we get of Quito! The cable car ride up to the top is around 15 minutes! If you plan on going here, bring a jacket because it get's really cold! Our favorite things to do up here is to drink a hot coffee at "Cafe Cruz Loma" with the amazing view of the mountains and the city. Afterwards we like walking towards the famous swing where you can take awesome pictures and also feel like you're on top of the world. The view from the Teleferico is breathless!

PLACE TO VISIT/RESTAURANT, Quito, Ecuador

This is Becky's favorite coffee spot in Quito. They serve all types of food, but the best thing to do here is go for a cup of coffee or hot chocolate during sunset time (6:15pm-7:15pm)! The amazing view of the city will take your breath away. If you're going, make sure to make a reservation on the balcony for the best view.
