The Meeting: Dan and Becky first met fortuitously in San Francisco at Hardly Strictly, the world's largest bluegrass festival. Becky had recently arrived in the city and happened to run into her high school friend, who two weeks prior, had just become Dan's new roommate. The Courtship: On a beautiful day, to the sounds of mediocre music, Becky and Dan began falling for each other over a bucket of Dan’s renowned pulled pork. Six months later Becky joined Google, and they began spending far more time together, when they should probably have been working. For the next three years, Becky and Dan increasingly spent more time together exploring breweries, parks, and famously revamping Dan’s wardrobe, as just friends, due to Dan’s cluelessness. Their time together in San Francisco ended when Dan moved back to Boston for business school, and (although Becky denies it) she could not stand the distance, and she moved to New York City shortly after. During Covid, the couple reconnected first over zoom and then met up in Boston for a weekend. They began dating shortly after, using the unique situation to their advantage, oftentimes spending weeks together in New York, Connecticut, and Boston. The Proposal: After Daniel graduated from business school, they moved in together and began splitting their time between New York and Connecticut. In June of 2023, Daniel proposed in Redding, on a rare day when it was just the two of them, beneath “Walter” the red oak tree they had planted together that spring.
