Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP to all events by February 1, 2026. If possible, RSVP sooner so we can curate the perfect weekend!

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Duns Castle Estate, of course! Please see the lodging tab on this website for payment details, room assignments, and further instructions.

Question

What will staying at Duns Castle be like?

Answer

Duns Castle Estate is not a hotel. It is a centuries-old family home still in use to this day. We chose Duns Castle not only for its charm and beauty, but also to celebrate and enjoy a weekend with friends and family together in the Scottish countryside. We will have full use of the castle and its grounds for the duration of our weekend. Think of it like a grand vacation rental. So while there's no onsite restaurant or concierge service, we've planned the weekend to hopefully provide you with everything you'll need for a comfortable stay. All rooms have basic amenities like: Towels, toiletries, and bed linens Tea and coffee-making facilities in bedrooms Hairdryers in the castle bedrooms. However, there are no TVs in bedrooms. Other castle ground amenities include: Billard Room The castle croquet set is available to be set up on the rear lawn for guests, weather permitting. Tennis court (for informal games) available in the grounds for guests, but please bring rackets and balls. Grand Piano (can anyone play?) If you have been assigned to stay in a cottage, a full description will be available when you are ready to RSVP and make payments. Please see the Lodging tab for instructions.

Question

Is there wi-fi?

Answer

Yes, the castle and cottages have wifi. However, it may not reach far beyond the castle or cottages into the grounds.

Question

Is there parking during the weekend?

Answer

Should you choose to drive or rent a car, there is limited parking available on the castle grounds. Please let Becky and Christian know if you plan on driving.

Question

Is there food available at the Castle?

Answer

We've planned mealtimes for the duration of the weekend. There will also be light snacks and water provided in your welcome package. If you would like something outside of these scheduled meals, or would prefer to keep food in your cottage or room, there are several restaurant options and grocery stores in the town of Duns, approx 10- 15 minutes walk from the castle. Please familiarize yourself with the scheduled activities during the weekend if you'd like to head into town. We also have access to the kitchen located at the end of the castle dining hall. It is well-equipped but compact. Amenities include: Fridge Undercounter freezer 2 Full-size electric ovens Microwave 2 dishwashers Pots, pans, cutlery, crockery Glassware If you have been assigned to stay in a cottage, a full description will be available when you are ready to RSVP and make payments. Please see the Lodging tab for instructions.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The wedding day attire is cocktail. Kilts encouraged! All other events are casual. Athletic attire is recommended for the Highland Games. Please note we are in the Scottish countryside, which means unpredictable rain. We recommend bringing sensible shoes to walk around the castle grounds.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Becky and Christian have planned their wedding to be an intimate weekend with family and friends. Unless otherwise planned with us, there are no plus ones for guests.

Question

Where should I fly into?

Answer

If flying from the USA, we recommend flying into Edinburgh International Airport. Code EDI. We recommend landing late morning or midday on Friday, May 22.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the ceremony or any of the weekend events?

Answer

Transportation is not needed for the duration of the weekend if you stay on the castle grounds. Transportation to events will not be provided if you choose not to stay at the castle estate.

Question

How do I get to Duns castle?

Answer

Duns Castle is situated approximately 1 hour south-east of Edinburgh and has 3 international airports within reasonable reach (60-90 mins): Edinburgh, Newcastle, and Glasgow. Uber is easily available from the EDI International Airport. Berwick-Upon-Tweed train station, approximately 20 minutes from Duns, is just 3.5 hours from London King's Cross and 1 hour from Edinburgh Waverley. If travelling by car from Edinburgh, we recommend the A1 and then the A6122 from Grantshouse.

Question

Why do Becky and Christian want everyone to bring a fridge magnet to the wedding?

Answer

We have an extensive magnet collection from all over the globe! We use them as decorations in our home and love adding new ones wherever life's travels take us. We would love to have a wedding magnet collection that will create a one-of-a-kind keepsake and art piece for us to remember the weekend and celebrate every guest in attendance.
