As fate would have it - we both happened to be in Scottsdale AZ at the same time for totally different reasons. Chris, of course, was there for MLB Spring Training while Becky was there to celebrate one of her best friends, Jasmine's (one of her bridesmaids), birthday. Each of us completely on our own time, schedules, and preference for particular types of activities (baseball games vs brunch and pool parties) decided to hit the Old Town Scottsdale bars on Saturday night. Some compare Old Town Scottsdale nightlife to the Las Vegas Strip on MLB Spring Training weekends - long lines, crowded everything, expensive cover charges - but luckily we both confidently know our way around these Saturday night obstacles. As we individually maneuvered our way (for free) into one of the most popular bars our night began. Becky will tell you she *might* have seen Chris right away. However, she also noticed that he wasn't alone, he was with a girl, so Becky ignored the handsome guy she *might* have seen. Chris will tell you that he didn't see Becky until the girl he was with pointed her out. This girl Chris was with happens to be Chris' good friends' wife, Audrey, who Becky soon found out was clearly not "with" Chris. We ended up talking for hours....or was it minutes...as the bar was closing down. Once Becky met back with her friends and told them that Chris didn't ask for her number - so she didn't give it to him - they quickly jumped into action. Nikki, another good friend there to celebrate Jasmine, jumped out of the Uber to give Becky's phone number to Chris. *Thanks Nikki :)* ...Surprise Chris called .... Surprise Becky answered! We ended up meeting for Sunday brunch + Jasmine (not our first date!) and this led to Becky almost missing her flight home to Texas. For the next 9 months, we kept in touch and slowly realized our connection was special. Chris finally invited Becky out to Georgia to visit and attend Anthony & Audrey's wedding. Once back face to face they fully realized this was a relationship to hold on to and build. Seven years later, two cross-country moves, and finally in our first home we have made it to our wedding year and we cannot wait to celebrate!
