UPDATE

Due to COVID-19, we have decided to postpone our wedding. We would love to move forward but the health and safety of our guests is of utmost importance. We have yet to set a new date but hope to finalize a 2022 date soon.

How We Met

¿Quién lo habría pensado?

We first met in High School, when our assigned seats in Spanish class happen to sit side by side. Fast forward six years to when Susie would go from someone Tyler saw time from time in their shared friend group to someone Tyler hoped he could see more often. So he put his plan in place. If there were two cars going to the same place, Tyler would ride in the one Susie was in. If a game of chicken broke out in the pool, Tyler would volunteer to carry Susie to victory. An open seat next to Susie at dinner? Tyler would quickly claim it. And all of this would have worked out perfectly for Tyler, except Susie figured they were better off as friends (Ouch). But as the spring of 2014 arrived, Susie's interest in Tyler had blossomed and by the end of the summer, there was little question of their status. She was his partner in crime, road trip co-pilot, hiking partner, and "lets go eat bad food at 2 am" companion . He made it official by handing her a Coors Banquet Beer and asking her while sitting on his grandmothers' couch. I guess all the romantic ideas were taken that day.

The Proposal

The Carbonaro Effect

Five years to the day of their very first big trip, Susie and Tyler would be on another. They loaded up the car in Seattle and readied to depart the first stop on just a regular summer trip. Unbeknownst to Susie, their family and friends had already logged several hours on a trip of their own. From their 5am flights out of Los Angeles, they had arrived in Seattle and were already heading to the very same destination. By the time Susie and Tyler had arrived in the small beach town of La Push, the others were hunkered down in adjacent cabins, making sure not to alert her to their presence. With no cell phone service, all Tyler could do was convince Susie she really needed a shower (she didn't) and scramble over to the others to go over the plan one last time. They built a bonfire on the beach and he handed her a Coors Banquet and made cheers to an uneventful, relaxing evening with each other. But then it was time. He removed his hat to signal the 23 others to get in place to soon reveal themselves. Instead of his practiced plan and speech, Tyler proceeded to clumsily convince Susie to retrieve a rock nearby and that it was absolutely necessary she not look anywhere else, as this was required for him to complete the magic trick he had learned on the Carbanaro Effect (A show she hated and had absolutely no meaning to them). She, confused by the stuttering Tyler, went along with it and when she turned back toward him with the rock, he went down to a knee and presented her with a rock of a different type. Neither of them could tell you exactly what was said next. It was all a blur. But we know she said Yes! Her hugs and kisses were interrupted by Tyler, who whispered in her ear "Hey stop, your family is watching". She then turned and was greeted by everyone's cheers as they hurried toward them to start the celebration.
