Scott and Stefani met at the good ole Bank of Alpine - a part of Bank of Jackson Hole in Spring of 2021. Scott was the lender in Alpine at the time, and Stefani transferred from the main branch in Jackson down to Alpine as a Loan Processor to cut her work commute down. It saves 40 mins if you live in Star Valley! They developed a great co worker friendship. You could usually find Stef in Scott's office telling him stories about building her house, and he would offer her advice and watch her crash and burn with contractor after contractor. They would hang out socially with work friends every now and then, or go get lunch, or drinks after work. Nothing ever amounting to much as each were usually dating other people, but there was always a flirty undertone of texting every now and then...more from Scott's side ;). Stef was NEVER going to date Scott because she took him off her radar. During office conversations, he would complain to her about his divorce or kids (Stef's mind heard he never wanted them again) and so she never thought twice of dating him because he didn't want the same future as she. One of Scott's friends described him during that time period of his life, "a miserable f**K." Which, Stef probably had a clue about his miserableness, but he was always in a good mood around her, and she didn't know exactly what was going on in his personal life. Well, fast forward two and a half years later. They would run into each other around town every now and then, catch up on life (mostly commiserate about their stupid dating life at the time). They finally both became single around the same time in the summer/fall of 2023. Scott would hit Stefani up via text, telling her she needed to go ride horses with him. She would flat out ignore him at some points, again not wanting to date Scott because she knew they didn't want the same things. Well, they saw each other out at a bank client party in Alpine. Scotty was flirting hard that night, excited to see Stef again and texted her after she left that night, "not sure if you realize, but I'm trying to date you." She knew he was, but told him , "I'm looking for something more Scotty, not just a fun time" because she knew he was a fun guy! After his persistence in pursuing her, she finally caved and asked him to get a drink "as a friend" after a stressful work week. They met at Melvin's in Alpine for happy hour. Scott still technically thinks this is their first date. (However they met up after work, Stef wasn't "date ready" nor did Scotty ask her out or plan it, nor was there a kiss!) We distinctly remember our waitress that night, who knew Scott as a regular there, asked if I was his girlfriend. He remarked, "no, but I'm working on it." Stefani just shook her head and rolled her eyes. Little did she know. They made drunk plans to meet up the next day to go horseback riding at 10am. Stefani didn't think they'd follow through because who ever follows through the next day when your drunk the night before?! Well they did, and they had a fun "first date." They kept the date going by getting drinks and dinner at the infamous cowboy bar in Thayne, Dad's Bar. During this date, Stef was pleasantly surprised to find out Scott would love to get married again, always wanted to, and missed his kids when they were little. This made her start to see him in a different light. There was even a kiss that night which sealed the deal of it being a true date. And it changed the course of the work/friendship into a relationship. Now they realize what everyone they worked with thought about them the last three years, how great they are together because they could all see the chemistry at the time! From co workers to friends to finally engaged. We absolutely can't wait for you all to join us and celebrate our beautiful union!
