Things to do around town

- Walk or rent bikes to take on the trail that goes around Ladybird Lake - Peter Pan Mini Golf (around since 1948!) - Walk around Pease Park (must visit Malin, the 18-foot troll, and lay on the net in the treehouse sphere! Kids will also love this. Also for kids: ride the Zilker Eagle train in Zilker Park.) - Shopping on South Congress Ave (Prima Dora, Big Top Candy Shop, Allens Boots. American Drifter (on S 1st Ave a short walk away) is a great curated thrift store. While most of this street has gone commercial in the last 5 years, there are still some gems.) - Other fun shops around town: BookPeople (huge bookstore), Waterloo Records, Atown (and ToyJoy across the street!), Room Service Vintage, Uncommon Objects - Ladybird Wildflower Center - LBJ Museum (a favorite!) - Blanton Museum - Bullock Texas State Museum - Laguna Gloria or Umlauf (both outdoor sculpture museums) - Mt Bonnell (great views, tons of stairs!) - Alamo Drafthouse (A movie theater with food & drinks brought to your seat during the movie. There's a few locations around town. Arrive 30 min early for the pre-show.) - Live music: Armadillo Den (has drinks & food trucks too), Continental Club, Antone's, ACL Live, Mohawk, Historic Scoot Inn, The White Horse or Broken Spoke for honky-tonk and line dancing, C-Boys, Elephant Room (jazz) - Walk around Mueller Lake Park (the Thinkery museum here is great for kids, lots of food options, an Alamo Drafthouse movie theater, a farmers market on Sundays) - Cathedral of Junk - Cidercade (arcade with cider on tap, nice outdoor area on the lake) - Escape rooms - Take photos in front of one of the famous murals ("I love you so much", "You're my butter half", Austin sign mural, etc.) If the weather is nice enough!: - Rent a kayak or boat on Ladybird Lake - Swimming or laying out at Barton Springs Pool - About 45 minutes outside the city are Krause Springs and Blue Hole Regional Park, which are also really special spots and worth the drive if you have the time!
