It was July of 2015, and Becca’s time in Argentina was coming to an end. After an incredible two years living in Buenos Aires, she had booked her one-way ticket back home to Chicago. But little did Becca know, she would not be saying goodbye to Argentina for long. Instead, just weeks before her flight back to the States, she said hello to someone very special. Becca and Axel first met watching a mutual friend perform at an open mic night. Axel was quickly drawn to the beautiful, blonde, American girl and her fun, inquisitive personality. Becca loved Axel’s kindness, attentiveness, sense of humor, and easy-going nature from night one. Within a week of meeting, they were on their first official date, followed by more and more time spent together. But the clock was ticking. Before they knew it, Axel was helping Becca pack up her apartment and hugging her goodbye as she headed to the airport. Now, as we all know, this was thankfully not the end of Becca and Axel’s story. After a few months of constant texting and voice notes, Becca announced to her Chicago family and friends that she would be moving back to Buenos Aires. While Becca would never admit it, anyone who knew her well understood that she was following her heart back to Argentina, back to Axel. And if that’s not true love, we don’t know what is! Soon after returning to BA, Becca and Axel were #official. They did everything together, from going on walks around the city to trying new coffee shops and restaurants, to playing board games, or watching soccer at Becca’s apartment. In 2017, they made their first trip to the US where Axel fell in love with “the burbs,” bagels, and Becca’s family and friends. Their shared love of travel also led them to weekend getaways in Mendoza, Uruguay, Chile, and Miramar, and by the end of 2018, they were packing their bags to move in together in Villa Crespo. In 2020, after months locked down in their one-bedroom apartment, Axel gave Becca the most epic 30th birthday surprise. She returned home from a walk with friends to find that their apartment had been transformed into an escape room. As Becca raced around the living room and kitchen in search of the clues and codes that would help her to “create the Covid-19 vaccine,” she was blown away by Axel’s creativity and thoughtfulness. And when Becca finally “escaped,” it wasn’t the vaccine that she found, but an engagement ring! On December 21st, 2020, Becca and Axel got married in Buenos Aires. Dozens of loved ones celebrated them on the street outside City Hall, and many more tuned in via Zoom to watch them say “I Do”. It was the perfect wedding day numero uno, and Becca and Axel are counting down the days until wedding numero dos in Chicago this summer!
