Nick and Becca first became friends while attending Margarita Middle School. Throughout their schooling in Temecula, Nick and Becca ran with the same crowd, ate lunch together, went to school dances in the same group, and even joined forces on class projects. After high school graduation the two friends parted ways for college. Nick stayed in SoCal attending UCSD while Becca moved to Arizona to attend ASU. The two friends kept in touch, and began dating at the end of their final year at University.

Becca was in Chicago for two weeks in December for work. Nick flew out so the two could enjoy the weekend and explore the city together. Friday night Becca and Nick attended the Joffrey's The Nutcracker, a ballet Becca performed in nearly every year growing up. After the performance, Becca and Nick headed back to the hotel, where he proposed! The rest of the weekend they braved the cold winter winds to try new coffee bars, explore museums, and indulge in hearty mid-west food.
