We met at the start of the school year at The University of Denver in 2011. We had both enrolled in an exciting “Field Quarter” which was 4 months in field locations around the world learning environmental science, geography, geology and all kinds of other sciences. Becca noticed Michael within the first few weeks of the program, while we were learning about mountain environments in Mt. Evans. When we went back to campus for a few days break, Becca (the senior at the time) invited the shy sophomore boy over to study for a test and bake my grandma’s cookie recipe. Michael, a blossoming foodie, quickly accepted! After this we began to grow closer over the course of our travels until one night Becca got up the courage to ask Michael to go bat watching. We were in the famous Arizona Southwest Research Station that had an avid bat population and Becca thought this would be the perfect opportunity to have a moment with him! We met up that night with the bats swirlling around us. Becca conviently “forgot” her jacket and Michael snuggled closer to keep her warm. We finally got the courage to kiss surrounded by those bats on that magical night of September 25th. Since then we have barely spent a day apart. We’ve only grown in our love and can’t wait to commit our lives together. We love to travel, and last November we had an adventourus vacation to Belize where we explored caves, ancient ruins, hiked in Jungles, birded, tubed down rivers and snorkled with sharks! On the last evening, we took a walk down the beach and went out to a pier to watch the sunset. Michael asked Becca to be his forever and grow old together. Becca could barely say “Yes” through the tears!
In Belize!
