Becca and Jon’s story began in the summer of 2023 in Seaside, Oregon, though neither of them quite realized it at the time. Jon had come to Seaside for a worship internship, while Becca was working at a church preschool and was actively involved in the young adults community. Week after week, they found themselves in the same spaces, Bible studies, gatherings, and late-night conversations with friends. Everyone around them seemed to notice something forming… except Jon. Despite the teasing, he insisted there was nothing there. After the summer ended and Jon returned home, something unexpected happened…he couldn’t stop talking to her. What started as simple check-ins quickly turned into daily phone calls and FaceTimes. They shared about life and the joys and challenges of working with students. Somewhere along the way, friendship quietly became something deeper. That fall, Jon found a reason to drive back down to Seaside for a long Fall break weekend. He told his friends he was coming to visit, but they saw right through it. After plenty of encouragement (and some well-timed pressure), Jon finally worked up the courage to ask Becca on a date. On October 19th, 2023, Becca said yes. After she finished teaching preschool the following day, Jon picked her up and took her to Dutch Bros then Frite & Scoop in Astoria for fries and ice cream. Sitting across from each other, Jon shared how he felt and his commitment to making a long-distance relationship work. Becca, who may or may not have been waiting for that moment, felt the same way. They walked along the dock, held hands for the first time, and continued the day at Cannon Beach near Haystack Rock, where they took their first official “we’re dating” photo together. The months that followed weren’t easy. Their relationship began long-distance, and whenever school breaks allowed, Jon made the drive between Washington and Oregon to be together. Over the course of that year, he made well over a dozen trips there and back. At one point, he practically had the route memorized. But every mile was worth it. Eventually, Becca moved back home to Puyallup to continue pursuing her degree and begin a new season of life, this time in the same state as Jon, where their relationship continued to grow deeper. Through every season, distance and closeness, busy schedules and spontaneous adventures, their relationship has been marked by faith, joy, and intentional love. They’ve had to navigate challenges and uncertainty, but through it all, they’ve seen God’s faithfulness again and again, making a way, providing, and guiding them forward. When Jon proposed to Becca on April 6th, 2026, near Haystack Rock, the place where their relationship first began, he shared a passage that had become especially meaningful: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” — Isaiah 43:19 (NIV) In moments where the future felt uncertain, this was a verse Jon would come back to again and again, reminding them both to trust that God was already at work, creating new paths and new beginnings even when they couldn’t yet see the full picture. Time and time again, they’ve seen this promise lived out. What once felt uncertain has turned into something steady. What once required faith step-by-step has now become a story of God’s provision and grace. Jon loves Becca’s heart for kids and the way she brings warmth and joy into every space she enters. Becca loves Jon’s caring heart, leadership, and the way he continually points her to Jesus. What started as a summer friendship grew into something neither of them expected, but something they’re now incredibly grateful for. Now, they’re beyond excited to celebrate this next chapter, surrounded by the people who have prayed for them, supported them, and been part of their story from the very beginning. And this is only the beginning. 💍
