how we met

a story of volleyball, grape slushies and feelings circles

We met originally in February of 2017 at a game night. Becca initially thought Jeff had no personality, and Jeff thought Becca’s style was too edgy. It seemed like that was the end. Cut to spring 2017. After hanging out with mutual friends playing volleyball, going classic skating, and more game nights (so many game nights), Becca and Jeff finally went out on their first date on May 13, 2017. After dating all summer, Becca left on a study abroad to London for fall semester 2017. For a few rocky months, the relationship faltered and flipped and flopped. After 4 months apart, Jeff and Becca were united in Portland on December 29th. 3 months later, on March 25th, Jeff proposed at the Grand Canyon. The next milestone is July 13th- marriage and sealing in the Portland, Oregon LDS temple. The rest is history (or the future).

the first date

Dry Canyon, UT

may 13, 2017 On a sunny Saturday in the spring of 2017, Jeff nervously walked up the door of apartment 15 to take Becca on a date. At the same time, Becca was preparing for what she thought was a hangout or a friendly hike. She was wrong. Right in the middle of a long conversation about the man in question, Jeff knocked on the door and Becca realized that this was, in fact, a 1-on-1 date. Nervous but determined, the two drove up to Dry Canyon to go hiking. A lot of things were learned about eachother on this hike- first, that Becca has an irrational fear of steep hills and Jeff was too scared to hold her hand for an extended time despite her actually needing the stability; second, that Jeff’s soul- unlike Becca’s- was so pure that he wouldn’t even throw rocks at birds; and third, that a spring day in the Utah mountains is not actually as warm as one might think. Although it’s typically against date code to have a first date longer than a couple hours, hiking was followed up with burgers from JCW’s and then “A Man From U.N.C.L.E”- and Jeff introducing Becca to his mom on the very first date. Church the next day was a little awkward, but luckily that hadn’t been the case since.
