So many things! In the Cape Winelands, there are endless opportunities to visit lovely wine estates, taste some of the best wines in the world, and drink in the sights. Here are some good ones: Vrede en Lust, Tokara Winery, Babylonstoren, the Franschhoek Wine Tram, Rust en Vrede, La Lude Winery. Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are also glorious places to take a stroll and grab a bite. If you are traveling into Cape Town prior to the wedding, please let us know of your travel plans! We are looking into planning some relaxed outings and braais and would love your company. Also, if you are traveling from the States and would like some additional recommendations, please reach out to Becca or Bill Garman.
If you plan to do some local travel ahead of the wedding around Cape Town and the Cape Winelands, it may be more cost effective to rent a car. We often use Vineyard Care Hire for car rentals, located in the Kenilworth area: https://vineyardcarhire.co.za/ For the Americans, please note that South Africans drive on the opposite side of the road. That said, you may want to look into booking a driver. If this is of interest to you, email Becca and she will provide more information on how to organize this. Uber is also another relatively easy and affordable option to get around.
Diamant Estate is located on Suid-Agter-Paarl Road in Paarl. It is about a 45-minute drive from Cape Town CBD and a 30 minute drive from Stellenbosch. For the wedding, we will provide shuttles that will pick up from Oak Tree Lodge in Paarl and Oude Werf Hotel in Stellenbosch prior to the ceremony and at the end of the reception. The Paarl shuttle will depart for the venue at 3:45pm. The Stellenbosch shuttle will depart for the venue at 3:30pm. At the end of the evening, there will be shuttles returning guests to these two locations at 11:00pm and 12:30am. Rideshare, such as Uber, is also an option. If you decide to recommend scheduling your pick up in advance, since availability is likely to be limited in the area. Parking is also available at Diamant Estate.
The dress code for the ceremony and reception is semi-smart attire. The reception pre-drinks will be held outside on lawn, so please consider any footwear or outwear that will be most comfortable to you.
