Things To Do

We love our city! Richmond is full of fun things to do and explore. We love hiking local trails, checking out some of the amazing restaurants and breweries in the area or visiting one of many of the museums Richmond has to offer.

Canal Walk

Canal Walk, Richmond, VA

Richmond’s Canal Walk features four centuries of our state capital’s history depicted through fascinating history medallions, statues and exhibits. Did you know that in 1888 Richmond built the first commercially successful electric streetcar system in the world? And that Richmond is the only city in the world with a triple main-line railroad crossing still in operation? Look for all of this along the Canal Walk.

Belle Isle

Richmond, VA

Part of the James River Park System, it is a small 54-acre island accessed by pedestrian footbridge from Tredegar St. on the north shore (just past The American Civil War Museum). Large flat rocks surrounding the island make for good sunbathing, but the powerful Hollywood Rapids are not suitable for swimming. You can explore wooded trails, mountain biking trails, historical sites and a granite wall for rock climbing. Chad and Becca love taking Riley on walks around Belle Isle and Riley loves going for a dip in the river!

Carytown

Richmond, VA 23221

Colorful Carytown is a bohemian district centered around a stretch of West Cary Street, with indie boutiques, record stores, and vintage emporiums. Quirky murals brighten alleyways and buildings housing cool cafes, bakeries, and health-conscious lunch spots, while evening crowds fill farm-to-table restaurants and craft cocktail bars.

Science Museum of Virginia

2500 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220
, (804) 864-1400

Awe-inspiring experiences for curious minds! Featuring experiential exhibits, awesome artifacts, interactive technologies, innovative programs, dynamic films, live animals, interesting lab demos and more! One of Chad and Becca's first dates was at Body Worlds exhibit at the Science Museum.

Upper Shirley Vineyards

600 Shirley Plantation Rd, Charles City, VA 23030

Come experience the magic of Upper Shirley Vineyards, a one-of-a-kind estate, winery and restaurant perched above one of the most scenic bends on the James River. It is a great place to take some lawn chairs or a blanket and relax with great river views.
