Adam and Becca met at Mendez Boxing Gym in December 2015. Both Adam and Becca trained routinely, and just another day at the gym turned out to be the start of something they both would never expect. One day while training on the heavy bag, next to each other as complete strangers, Adam asked Becca, "How do you feel?" Mid sweat, mid breath, mid round, Becca said, "I feel okay...," wondering why anyone would be speaking to her at such an intense and tiring moment. As if Becca wasn't caught off guard enough, Adam responded, "You feel okay? That means you're not working hard enough!" From this moment on, came seeing each other often at the gym, going out to dinner, and even sparring (including Becca giving Adam a bloody nose). From there, their story began.
On June 17th, 2018, Adam, Becca and Family sailed away on the Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas. With excitement in the air as they sailed through the ocean, they made their way to dinner. They were seated at the center table of a three floor dining room, the table usually reserved for the Captain. Right before dessert was going to be served, Adam was "called to the kitchen" by the head chef, to get a private tour of the kitchen. Before you know it, Adam walked out holding Becca's dessert plate in hand that had a napkin reading "He asked, she said yes!" As he placed the plate in front of her, surrounded by the kitchen staff and photographer, Adam revealed his apron that said, "Will you marry me?" To say that Becca was in a state of shock would be an understatement. Surrounded by family and the entire dining room, Adam got down on one knee and Becca said "Yes!"
We thought we would have our dream wedding during the Summer of 2020, but COVID had different plans. Instead, we postponed our original celebration and had our marriage ceremony on our original date, July 2nd 2020, at Ladies Pavilion in Central Park. Only some of our immediate family could be there but we capitalized on the situation and created our mini New York City dream moment. We had a vintage cab drive us around to take photos in the empty pandemic streets of Manhattan. At the time, restaurants in NYC still hadn't opened for parties of 10 or more so instead we drove north to Gigante Restaurant and had a magical dinner, fireworks going off in the background, and a mariachi band to top it off. We were so lucky to still be able to get married on our original date and become Mr. and Mrs. Gonzaga!
