FAQs

We will be adding more FAQs in the coming days so please check back or reach out to us directly if you have a specific question in mind!
Question

When should I RSVP?

Answer

Please RSVP through Zola and send your contribution no later than January 6th. We know this may seem far in advance, but we need confirmed numbers in order to finalize accommodation for all guests.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Due to limited space and cost we had to keep our guest list extremely lean, so unfortunately plus ones cannot be accommodated.

Question

Will there be vegetarian, vegan and gluten/dairy free options?

Answer

We want to cater for all of our guests. Please advise your specific requirements in your RSVP.

Question

What airport should I fly into?

Answer

Florence (FLR) is the closest international airport (approx 1.5 hrs drive) but Rome (FCO) may be a better option as it's only a bit further (approx 2.5 hrs drive) and from what we've seen so far flights are a fair bit less expensive. For reference, NYC-FCO is currently around $350 USD while NYC-FLR flights are just over $600 USD (in fairness the Florence prices may be a bit on the high side at the moment - have previously seen them in the $500 USD range)

Question

What is the best way to get to Casa Cornacchi?

Answer

Renting a car will likely be the easiest and best transportation solution for most people (plus it will provide more freedom to explore the cute towns in the area). Example prices from Kayak for the wedding weekend (in USD): Fiat 500 for $50, Peugot 308 for $62, Opal Corsa for $85, Mercedes A Class $136. By car, Casa Cornacchi is about 1.5 hrs from Florence and 2.5 hrs from Rome. TRAIN OPTIONS: The high speed train from Rome to Arezzo (1-1.5 hrs trip) is $20-40 USD per person depending on time & ticket class. Transfers to/from Arezzo are 100 EUR. Normal train service from Rome to the closer town of Bucine (3-3.5 hrs trip) is $20-70 USD per person depending on time & ticket class. Transfers to/from Bucine are 60 EUR. Rome2Rio.com and thetrainline.com are helpful references for train travel. TRANSFER OPTIONS: Van transfers to/from Florence and Rome are 150 EUR and 400 EUR respectively.

Question

Do I need an International Driving Permit to drive in Italy?

Answer

Short answer: Unless you have an EU driver's licence it's probably worth having just in case. Longer answer: While it looks like many rental companies in Italy don't require an IDP if your licence is from Australia or the USA, their terms include some unsettling language about possible fines and vehicle confiscation if stopped by police without an IDP. Now, depending on your level of racial ambiguity you may be able to pass as Italian and be willing to roll the dice that you won't have any trouble. That said, both the US Embassy and Smart Traveller Australia say an IDP is required to drive in Italy. https://it.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/transportation-driving/ www.smartraveller.gov.au/destinations/europe/italy IDP FOR AMERICANS www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html IDP FOR AUSSIES www.mynrma.com.au/holidays/travel-insurance-and-permits/international-driving-permits www.aaa.asn.au/international-motoring/driving-overseas/

Question

Is it possible to arrange a babysitter to look after my kids?

Answer

Yes! Casa Cornacchi offers babysitting services for 20 euros/hour for up to 2 children. Let us know if you'd like to arrange this at any time over the weekend.
