"Located in Mound Bayou, adjacent to the high school, is an exceptional museum that explores the history of one of America’s first all Black communities, it’s hardships, successes, and the interesting details along the way. One of those details is about the song popularized by Marvin Gaye, 'Let’s get it on.' This song was written in Mound Bayou and first performed in the building that now houses the museum. Except it was originally written by Ed Townsend in Mound Bayou as a protest song for the civil rights movement. After they switched up a couple of lyrics in Los Angeles, it became the ballad you’re familiar with today, but it wasn’t always such, and you’ll never hear it the same way again." — Visit Cleveland Mississippi
The world-famous McCarty's Pottery is located in Bailey's hometown of Merigold, just a stone's throw from his family home. One of the first gifts Bailey gave Anna was a beautiful McCarty's vase and plate set. Throughout their relationship, Anna has developed a stunning collection of McCarty's pieces, thanks to her charming fiance. "McCarty’s is more than just a pottery studio; it’s a cherished part of Mississippi. Over the years, I have discovered that visiting Merigold, selecting a piece of McCarty’s pottery, and proudly displaying the thick, brown paper bag with McCarty’s creations inside, signifies a unique and memorable experience. The McCarty’s studio is in an old mule barn that reminds me of a cottage where beautiful creations are made. It is charming and storied, and when you walk in, you want to become a potter. There is a distinct feeling of legacy in the air, and it’s in the Delta dirt, too." Meredith Biesinger, "McCarty's Potter, a Mississippi Legacy," The Magnolia Tribune.

"While you’re in the Delta, you must stop at the White Front Cafe in Rosedale for tamales. Rolling some of the best tamales anywhere, the Pope family have been serving up delta tamales to people to world-over for more than 50 years." — Visit Cleveland Mississippi
