Your one stop shop for all things Lander! They also have information about the surrounding areas like Thermopolis (Dinosaurs and Hot Springs), Dubois (Military Vehicle Museum), Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone, etc.
This is where we had our first date and where we got engaged. It is known for its outdoor recreation opportunities, including family-friendly hikes, rock-climbing, camping, mountain biking, etc. It gets its name from the unique 'Sinks' and 'Rise' features where the Popo Agie River disappears into an underground cave before resurfacing again down-canyon.
The Loop Road is a scenic drive through Sinks Canyon State Park up through the Wind River Mountains over to South Pass and back to Lander. There are several lakes and many trailheads with great hiking trail access. See Louis Lake and the Blue Ridge Lookout listed below for some favorite stops.
If you're looking for easy access views of the Wind River Range, take the Loop Road up from Sinks Canyon to the Blue Ridge Lookout. There's a parking area right off the road with a ½ mile trail that leads to the old Blue Ridge fire lookout. The trail is steep but short and leads to a large rock outcrop (elevation 9840’) and an old fire lookout with a spectacular view of the surrounding area including the Wind River Mountains, the Owl Creek Mountains, and much of the Wind River Basin.
Louis Lake is a beautiful lake right off of the Loop Road with a good swimming beach if you're willing to brave the cold water, a campground, and a Lodge with cabin rentals available.
This is an incredibly well-maintained historical site with beautifully restored buildings and a wealth of information about the gold mining in the area, early Wyoming statehood, and the first woman to serve as Justice of the Peace in the United States there in South Pass City.
Great local museum packed full of Lander history and artifacts, as well as extensive grounds with a sampling of historical buildings - located right in town!
FANTASTIC. This is one of the best museums we have ever been to. It contains a huge collection with exhibits that are well-layed-out and packed full of interesting and immersive military history information centered around the vehicles they used to carry out their missions.
Best burger in town. Their pizza and locally brewed beer are also fantastic.
Best brunch place in town.
This steakhouse is famous for its steak all over Wyoming and beyond.
Good coffee, fantastic pastries, and several delicious soup or sandwich lunch options.
