How We Met

June 12th, 2015 Hunter, New York

Beau and Courtney met on the first day of Taste of Country Music Festival in 2015 — immediately following a tornado watch. Beau and his friends were standing about ten feet in front of Courtney’s group, yelling amongst themselves about being cats. Courtney wasn’t particularly fond of Beau right away, even after he (very drunkenly) serenaded her through an entire Keith Urban concert. But, acting as her best friend’s wingwoman, she agreed to go hang out at their campsite. The two talked until two am, and when she left, she had his sweatshirt and a phone number in hand. She saw the last name he typed and as she always did, thought of her first name with his last name. Weird? A Little. (Courtney Cassidy is a GREAT name though.) The rest of the weekend was a bit blurry. We passed a Coke bottle filled with whiskey in a circle until it was gone, some neighbors joined with moonshine, Courtney was wearing a camelback filled with incredibly warm fireball. We’re a bit fuzzy on when Courtney started to change her mind about Beau, but eventually she came around to the tall guy that sang every song wrong and held her way closer than a stranger should.

Proposal Story

March 9th, 2018 — Hotel Del Coronado

On March 9th, 2018, Beau and Courtney woke up in a camper on the beach and sipped coffee while looking at the ocean with Courtney’s (OFFICIAL) cousins, Shasta, Anthony, and their people. The group went on a bike ride around Coronado that was a LOT longer than anticipated (approximately 13 miles), but such a fun memory to look back on. We had sunburns on the tops of our feet and the backs of our hands from the San Diego sunshine. Courtney’s mom had flown out for the weekend, and had taken a picture of the sandcastle that would be where Beau proposed. She then, unknowingly sent it to Courtney’s phone. Panic ensued and Shasta was contacted IMMEDIATELY to remedy the situation at hand. Like a secret agent, Shasta took Courtney’s phone and mouthed over her head to Beau, “WHATS THE PASSWORD?” Beau, having no idea why she was asking, silently gave her the password, and the photo was deleted without a single suspicion from the future bride to be. That evening, we had a reservation to go to one of Courtney’s favorite restaurants in Coronado, Miguel’s. It had been YEARS since Court had their queso and was antsy to get this show on the road. But when they got out of the car, her cousin Anthony said, “Hang on, I want to take some pictures of the beach!” Beau took Courtney’s hand and started walking towards the sandcastles at the Hotel Del. She knew immediately what was happening. She heard her Mom’s signature whistle from across the beach as Beau nervously got on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of their lives together. She said yes, and they all went to Miguel’s to celebrate. Their parents surprised them with an overnight stay at The Hotel Del, an architectural masterpiece and Coronado landmark that Courtney has been in awe of since she was a little girl.
