We're getting married!

Ours is a story for the love books. Yes, we know everyone says that about their own love story, but hang on... The first character in our story is a young American man searching for adventure and deeper meaning, who bravely chooses to leave all that was known to him in the United States and travel to Italy, a land that had always whispered to him "vieni qui!". We will name this young man Dietrich. The second character in our story is a young Italian woman who, after years of inner exploration, has chosen to live in closer contact with nature and the arts, harbouring a deep understanding that what was meant for her would arrive through personal alignment, not striving. We will name this young woman, Beatrice. As Beatrice often says, the Universe has our back… and that it did! On a beautiful Roman summer day of 2024, it brought them together, with some help from curated dating app algorithms. While visiting the rooms of an exhibition on the day-to-day wonders of Japanese culture, they started talking, sharing, laughing and pretty much have never stopped doing so since. Their eclectic love for life led them to explore mountain trails, forests, cities, museums, but most of all fall in love with the precious rituals of a daily life shared together. They started to realise that being together meant exponentially growing their capacity to create, to learn and to love. There are so many chapters to their love story already: living together in Colonna, in the outskirts of Rome (after just a month of dating!); house hunting and then moving to Schio, at the feet the Alps; adventures, sooo many adventures in the mountains; meeting their respective families, living on opposite sides of the world… and now planning to start the new chapter of their life in the Pacific Northwest of America. Throughout all these moments, their love for each other (and for the third member of the pack, their dog Nala) has never ceased to grow. It brought a certain peace and steadiness they had not known before, one that keeps them rooted even through stormy days, when strong winds make the pine trees sway. So you see, this really is a love story for the books. One that is made out of weaving together the complexities of existence and transforming them into a beautiful, awe-inspiring tapestry.

La nostra è una storia d'amore da fiaba. Sì, lo sappiamo: ognuno pensa questo del proprio amore. Ma dateci tempo per raccontarvi… Il primo personaggio della nostra storia è un giovane ragazzo americano, in cammino verso l’avventura e verso una vita vissuta con maggiore intensità e profondità. Con coraggio sceglie di lasciare tutto ciò che gli è familiare negli Stati Uniti e di partire per l’Italia, una terra che da tempo sembrava chiamarlo, sussurrandogli “vieni qui!”. Chiameremo questo giovane uomo Dietrich. Il secondo personaggio è una giovane donna italiana che, dopo anni di esplorazione interiore, ha maturato una profonda consapevolezza: ciò che è davvero destinato a lei arriva quando è allineata con se stessa, non attraverso il perseguire obiettivi dettati dall’esterno. Chiameremo questa giovane donna Beatrice. Come Beatrice ama spesso dire, l’Universo veglia su di noi… ed in effetti, così fu! In una soleggiata giornata estiva romana del 2024, li fece incontrare (con un piccolo aiuto da parte dell’algoritmo di un’app di incontri!). Visitando una mostra dedicata alle meraviglie della vita quotidiana nella cultura giapponese, iniziarono a parlare, a condividere, a ridere — e, in fondo, non smisero più. Il loro amore eclettico per la vita li ha portati a esplorare sentieri di montagna, boschi, città e musei, ma soprattutto a innamorarsi dei rituali semplici e preziosi di una quotidianità vissuta insieme. Hanno iniziato a capire che stare insieme ampliava, in modo naturale, la loro capacità di creare, di imparare e di amare. I capitoli della loro storia sono già molti: andare a vivere insieme a Colonna, alle porte di Roma (dopo appena un mese!); cercare casa e poi trasferirsi a Schio, ai piedi delle Alpi; tante avventure in montagna; l’incontro con le rispettive famiglie, pur vivendo spesso su lati opposti del mondo… e ora il progetto di iniziare un nuovo capitolo di vita nel Pacific Northwest degli Stati Uniti. In tutto questo, il loro amore reciproco — e quello per il terzo membro della famiglia, la loro cagnolina Nala — non ha mai smesso di crescere. Ha portato con sé una pace e una stabilità che prima non conoscevano, qualcosa che li mantiene radicati anche nei momenti difficili, quando il vento è forte e gli alberi oscillano. Quindi sì: questa è davvero una storia d’amore da fiaba. Una storia fatta di intrecci, di complessità accolte e trasformate, fino a creare qualcosa di armonioso e profondamente bello.
