Our Story

Maddy and Greg's story began well before they went on their first official date in July of 2020. They actually met in high school and sparked a friendship that would prove to stand the test of time. After high school, their paths diverged as Greg decided to attend Northeastern in Boston, MA and Maddy went to study at the University of Washington in Seattle. Through college, their connection remained and they both made an effort to get together whenever they were home to catch up or meet other friends who were also on break. Greg also made sure to send a "Happy Birthday" text every year on July 2nd in an effort not to lose contact with Maddy. Then the pandemic hit, and the world seemed to come to a halt. Greg came home from Boston, and Maddy had just graduated from the University of Washington and made her way home as well. She would soon get the same "Happy Birthday!" text she always received from Greg. Just like that, the stars aligned. It was the first time they would be in the same place, at the same time, for more than the length of a college break! Greg jumped at the opportunity, finally acted on his long-time crush, and asked Maddy out on a date. In a time where so much of the world felt uncertain, the romance between the two of them blossomed. They dated, spent time with each other, and even found their signature spot: the parking spot right in front of the stairs at Strands beach. While this new couple was busy falling for each other and navigating a global pandemic, Maddy was on the hunt for her dream job, and Greg was plotting a new career course. A real test arrived when Maddy received an exciting job offer in Seattle. After a good amount of contemplating and a substantial dose of "what-ifs", she came to a decision: she turned it down! She chose to stay in California with Greg, a clear sign that this blossoming relationship was something worth sticking around for. Not so long after this decision, Maddy landed an even more exciting job right there in sunny Southern California, a job she still works at today and loves. Greg's career change took a little longer to take hold, but with Maddy right by his side, he did finally complete the shift and landed a position too, proving that good things come to those who wait (and have an amazing partner). Life settled into a good rhythm. Maddy and Greg were both making strides in their careers, all while growing as individuals and together as partners. They kept going on dates, sprinkling in some new adventures, and of course, finding time to catch the sunset in the parking lot above Strands beach. Somewhere along the way, a new furry feline friend named Maggie entered their lives. With a constant need for attention, a friendly demeanor towards everyone she meets, and great cuddling skills, Maggie quickly wiggled her way into both of their hearts (seriously, she's the best cat ever). Fast forward to June of 2025. Greg knew it was time to pop the question. So, he orchestrated yet another special trip to Strands, choosing the very spot where their relationship first took root. It was there, amidst the familiar sounds and smells of the beach they had both grown up with, that Greg asked Maddy to be his wife. Now, with hearts full of anticipation, they can't wait to officially tie the knot. They're eagerly looking forward to June of 2026, when they'll gather with all their cherished family and friends to celebrate their journey, their love, and their exciting future ahead!
