The first time I met Becca was at a fraternity party at Texas Tech. They were playing country music (naturally in west Texas) and I saw her standing by herself waiting for her friends. I had no idea how to two-step but she was too beautiful for me not to try. I walked up to her and asked her to dance with me she said “yea, but I don’t know how to two-step” and I said “thank God because neither do I.” We laughed at ourselves as we tried to figure it out, and we’ve been doing that ever since.
I knew that I wanted to marry Becca since the first time I met her, which sounds really corny but it’s true. So, I’ve had some time to prepare what I was going to say and how I would do it. I knew she wanted it to be intimate, no photographers or huge parties or anything like that. Her parents were having a small New Years get together and I planned Paula to have the ring in the tree in the living room. Her friend Kaitlyn was there and I asked if she could take our picture in front of the tree. At that moment everything I had planned to say went out the window, all I got out was “Becca, I love you, and I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you” before she started crying. I got down on one knee and said “will you marry me” All Becca could say was “are you serious?? Are you serious??” Then she said yes!
