Travel Note
Uber works in Medellin! Most Ubers cost somewhere between $1-$6 to get around the major parts of the city. You can also order a taxi through the Uber app.
Travel Note
Credit Cards are accepted in almost every establishment. Cici is an Apple Pay girly 4ever and she never ran into any trouble. Keep in mind that there is a 20% tax on all credit card transactions. We found that the best way to exchange cash is to send it through Western Union and pick it up at any of the Western Union locations over there.
Rental Car
If you are brave enough to rent a car! Go for it! Please keep in mind that driving over there is very different and a little bit chaotic. The motorcycles make it very challenging.
Train
The Medellin Metro moves through the middle of the city, from the northernmost point to the southernmost point. The metro is a great way to get around but it is heavily congested and moves quickly if you aren't paying attention to your stop. Be on the lookout for pickpockets. The dense crowds on the metro make for a pickpocketer's dream!
Flight
This airport services all international flights to Medellin. It is a 35-45 min drive from city to airport depending on the traffic. In our experience, we recommend arriving 3 hours before your flight to check-in.
