Our Story

It all started when my mom, Maggie, married Adam’s cousin, Jodi. We first met that wedding weekend. Jodi pointed him out and said, “That’s my cute, single cousin!” but I didn’t think much of it at the time. (Spoiler: I should’ve.) Funny enough, Adam had just gotten out of the Marine Corps three weeks earlier and almost didn’t even make it to the wedding—but thankfully, he did. :) That night, a bunch of us ended up at Shadrack’s, where Adam taught me how to play pool. The next day, I already had a date to the wedding (sorry, bub), but the following afternoon, a group of us were hanging out in the pool, and I mentioned going downtown St. Pete. Adam was in town with his parents, David and Carol, and somehow convinced them to stay an extra night so we could explore. That evening, a few of us planned to go out—but most people forgot their IDs, so it ended up just being me and Adam. We spent the night riding scooters, climbing the playground at the pier, playing pool, and laughing like we’d known each other forever. At one point, he even tried to impress me with a backflip (which I’ve only seen him do twice since). Clearly, it worked—because our first kiss happened that night at Ferg’s… over another game of pool. A few days later, he was back in Louisiana, and I couldn’t stop thinking about him. So I triple dog dared him to come back to Florida—and he did. The very next weekend. From there, life moved fast in the best way. He helped me move out of my downtown apartment, and we spent a few months living in a beachside condo before heading to Texas for his school—where we lived for two years in “Big Tin,” our fifth-wheel trailer, at an RV resort (aka a fancy trailer park). We adopted our 145-pound baby, Moose, road-tripped through more states than we can count, camped on top of our Jeep, and have made the I-10 drive from Florida to Louisiana to Texas and back more times than either of us care to admit. Eventually, we made our way back to St. Pete and bought our little house on a pond-our Pondhouse. And now here we are—grateful, excited, and ready for whatever’s next. <3
