Like all modern fairy tales, ours started on Hinge. Brandon was in town consulting (read: briefly stranded in Cortland), and Courtney, a lifelong local with trust issues and a sense of humor, was convinced he had to be a catfish. He was just too cool to be from around here. Meanwhile, Brandon had his own suspicions—namely that Courtney was trying to lure him into the woods where, as The Office warns us, “people disappear in the Finger Lakes.” Despite our mutual paranoia, we met up. Sparks flew. Conspiracies died. And neither of us got catfished—or disappeared. From that first conversation, it just clicked. We quickly became each other’s favorite person, building something real and deep and full of laughter. We knew early on that this was different… the good kind of different. Then, life threw us a plot twist: in March 2025, Courtney was diagnosed with aggressive triple-positive breast cancer. It was terrifying, and she was sure this would be the thing that drove us apart. Instead, it became the moment that made our love even stronger. Brandon didn’t flinch—he stayed, supported, and showed up in every way. Just a few weeks later, in the middle of an ordinary night at home (Courtney may or may not have been wearing pants—don’t worry, it was G-rated), Brandon proposed. It was funny, sweet, and completely us. Now we’re navigating cancer with humor, grit, and an enormous amount of love—and planning the wedding of our dreams surrounded by the people who’ve helped carry us through. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
