Jesus, Family, Quail Hunting, and Zaxby's.

4.2.18

After moving back to his hometown of Sumrall, Jeff ended up helping out a friend from childhood, Dr. Megan Lott, with some adolescent vision therapy patients. One day Megan suggested he call a friend of hers, me. When describing me, those were the things Megan said I loved, Jesus, family, quail hunting, and Zaxby’s. I wholeheartedly admit to a love of Jesus and my family, but we laugh all the time about the other two descriptors. I love my annual father/daughter quail hunt but only eat Zaxby's once every three or four months or so (if I had to pick, it's Raising Cane's every time)! Whatever Megan's goal (and I have my suspicions), Jeff called me for the first time in early April. And it began... Betty-Braden

I'm going to need you to stand up!

5.24.19

I have always been convinced that my Nancy Drew like observational skills would mean I picked up when Jeff was going to propose. Instead, I missed him speaking with my parents (a month+ prior), had no clue he purchased a ring (he had been showing people pictures of it for weeks!), and did not see the proposal coming. I had been running 90-to-nothing that week and, by the time Friday date night rolled around, I was looking forward to shutting off my brain. As Jeff is prone to do when I get too stretched thin, he took over the plan making so I could relax. I relaxed alright. I relaxed through a 2-hour car ride, a delicious dinner at Mary Mahoney's, and as we started walking on the beach. When we came upon lights in the sand, I thought "Oh how sweet! Someone is having a romantic moment, we better go around.". When Jeff told me the lights were for us, I thought "He is so thoughtful! He knew my stress levels and arranged something extra special.". It was not until I actually sat down on the blanket at the end of the pathway of lights, and Jeff said "I'm going to need you to stand up!", that I realized what was going on. I was absolutely clueless! That, in-and-of itself, should tell any of my friends and family all they need to know. I trust this man enough to not be paying attention. Needless to say, I said yes. :) Betty-Braden
