We met during Greek Week 2014 when Kappa Sigma and Phi Mu were paired with Delta Sigma Theta. That Friday we were hanging out at the Kappa Sigma fraternity house and it all just clicked. We hung out that evening and for the next few weeks. On April 14, 2014, he asked to "make it official" and the rest is history!
Brian had gotten us tickets for a riverboat dinner cruise aboard the Harriott II. He wanted to "get fancy" and enjoy an evening out together. He was a ball of nervous energy ALL DAY. After boarding and eating dinner, the band asked if anyone had a birthday that week and we sang "Happy Birthday" to a young girl. They then mentioned that there was a couple celebrating their 31st anniversary, so the couple was called up to enjoy a dance together. At this point, Brian excused himself to the restroom. After the 31st-anniversary dance ended, the lead singer said, "The band is now going to take a break but isn't it great that they have been together so long, through all the ups and downs? But young love is great, too, so Brittany will you please come up here?" My first thought was why and the second was how in the world did anyone on this boat know my name since everything was in Brian's name. I walked up to where the band was, turned and saw Brian coming out of the back where the kitchen and restrooms were located. He was followed by his younger sister, sporting a camera, and one of my sorority little sisters, videoing on her phone. I realized what was happening and immediately teared up. He spoke about how I had been with him through the ups and downs of life so far and asked if I would spend the rest of my life with him. Of course, I said YES! I may have also added "it's about time" while he was placing the ring on my finger. -Brittany
