Liz, my mom, started it all. She enrolled Vivi in swim lessons one summer but, I was less than excited to attend those hot, summer mornings at Sellwood Pool. in my defense, I worked nights! After class, mom and I would sit on the park bench, watching little Vivi run around with the Friendly House summer camp kids. I noticed this incredibly attractive man organizing the kiddos, with great forearms and a swagger, when I realized I knew him! We had met a few times at the Space Room (and he was hot!) so I waved. I foolishly waved a couple of days in a row until finally Liz said "honey, he has no idea who you are" as only my sweet momma could. Defeated from those summer days, I barely paid him a bit of attention when a couple of years later we met again at a crowded bar, even when he asked for my number! But finally, after some smacks to the head by some great friends, I thought there may be a chance so I put my fear to the side and called him one Halloween night. The rest, as they say, is history. Dan has made Vivi and my life complete. We share a home, we share our lives, we share our joys and sorrows, all as a family. Looking forward, our wedding will be the fifth anniversary of Dan and my first evening out. We look forward to celebrating our commitment to each other with you, our extended family. Thank you for being a part of our world. - Dan and Vanessa
