Our Story

First comes school, then comes marriage.

Matthew and I met only a few short weeks into our freshman year at Western Carolina University. We were both a little ways from home and nervous to start our journeys. Our paths first crossed only the second week of school when both of us were in the lobby of our dorm playing pool with friends. Even though we never spoke that night, we knew it was meant to be when the very next week our mutual friends introduced us (without even knowing we saw each other the week before!) From that moment on we became inseparable and each other's best friend! We've been through every high and low that college has to offer from pulling all-nighters in the library to celebrating graduation. We have walked through some of the most stressful points in our lives such as college and buying our first home, and now we can't wait to walk through one of the happiest points in our lives; marriage!

The Proposal

11.24.19

This is by far my favorite story to date! We were driving home from a weekend in Georgia when Matthew decided to take the scenic route, the Blue Ridge Parkway. I didn't think much of it since we typically take the scenic route due to our love of long, pretty drives. After Matthew stopped at EVERY single lookout to take pictures of his new car, I was about ready to get home. At the last stop, he got back in the car, and in typical Matthew fashion, said, "Well I guess I messed up since I forgot the ring at home, but I knew I wanted to propose on the Blue Ridge Parkway where we fell in love, so will you marry me?" At that time every thought I had about rushing to get home left me and I was filled with complete shock! I would expect nothing less from Matthew as he forgets things 4 out of 5 times he leaves the house and is the most spontaneous person I know. I wouldn't trade his forgetfulness and spontaneity for anything else as he constantly reminds me to have patience and to take things day by day.
