Our Story

July 2022 — a day Kenzie doesn’t really remember, but one Brandon always will. Kenzie walked into the Rusty Bucket in Indy for her second shift, running a little late after misreading the schedule. Brandon was working behind the bar and noticed the new girl right away. When Kenzie came over to grab drinks for a table, Brandon was excited to say hi to her for the first time. Again, Kenzie doesn’t remember any of this... but Brandon introduced himself and started asking her questions about life, college, all the usual small-talk things. Apparently, Kenzie walked away completely uninterested. Months passed. Kenzie and Brandon worked a few shifts together here and there, but it was the typical bartender/server relationship. Then came February 2023 — the work holiday party. It was Kenzie’s first time seeing Brandon outside of work, and he definitely caught her eye. Of course, now she was the one too nervous to talk. Besides, work relationships never work out... right? July 11, 2023 — arguably one of Kenzie’s rougher nights. While working at the Bucket (as usual), someone came in and told her that her car window had been smashed. She thought they were joking. Kenzie walked outside — and to her dismay, her car window really was smashed in. Worse yet, her school backpack had been stolen — it felt like her whole life had been in that bag. Someone went back inside to tell Brandon, who was bartending and acting manager that night. He came out to find Kenzie in tears on the pavement. Without saying a word, he just held her until she calmed down, or at least calmed down enough. Then he spent the better part of an hour cleaning the glass out of her car and taping up her window so she could get home safely. In the days that followed, Brandon checked in regularly. He offered to cover her shifts. He even said he’d help try to recover her school things. Kenzie had never experienced that kind of care from someone before. About a month later, they ended up at the same concert with mutual friends, shoutout to Mt. Joy for an incredible show, and Sam Adams for being a hilariously effective wingman. They stayed by each other’s side the whole night, and Brandon walked Kenzie to her car after the show, sealing the night with a kiss on the cheek. From that point on, they never stopped talking. Their love grew stronger every day. It’s funny how God works sometimes, but we wouldn’t change a thing. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all on our big day! So much love to be celebrated and shared. 💙
