Lambeau Field Stadium Tour
Outside of enjoying a Packers game, one of the best things Lambeau Field offers is a stadium tour. We went here in the winter of 2020 when the temperature was just around freezing. Emily decided then and there that Packers fans are insane, but also amazing for their dedication to attend a game in those conditions (and usually colder!).
Visit an Appleton Brewery
Appleton boasts an impressive number of craft breweries that you can visit during your time in Wisconsin. Try unique local craft beers, enjoy live music events, and have fun! Some popular breweries to visit include: McFleshman’s Brewing (115 S State St): with a beer garden and a loft, McFleshman’s is conveniently located in the very center of Appleton Appleton Beer Factory (603 W College Ave): interestingly, this Downtown Appleton brewery is housed in a historic building that the crew has renovated by hand, reusing most of the materials. For instance, the wood for the tables came from the original floorboards upstairs. Lion’s Tail Brewing Company (116 S Commercial, Neenah, WI 54956): if you don’t mind going just a little outside Appleton to try the best craft beers, Lion’s Tail is the place to be. With a dozen brews on tap and even more guest beers, it has one of the largest offerings of craft beer in the area.

Fish Fry Friday
Baxter family recommendation: Mark's Eastside (also known for their old-fashioned). The Friday Fish Fry is as much a part of the classic Wisconsin diet as beer, brats, and cheese. The tradition started back when European immigrants flocked to places like Milwaukee and adapted their cooking techniques to the local fish in Lake Michigan. Since many were Catholic and avoided meat on Fridays during Lent, the weekly fish fry became a staple. During prohibition, taverns that chose to follow the law started holding a social fish fry on Fridays to help bring in some money. (Speakeasies, on the other hand, occasionally served free fried fish, making money on the illegal booze.) By the mid 20th century, the fish fry had become a staple of the state.
Cheese, Please!
It’s not just something we wear on our heads. In the Dairy State, we take cheese seriously. Whether you want to follow the brick cheese road for a day or stock up before you head home, here are a few suggestions. Try the cheese curds, everywhere! If you buy them at the store, you know they're fresh when they squeak on your teeth! If you buy cheese and want to fly home with it, be sure you remove it from your bag and put it in a separate bin when going through TSA (like your laptop). You can bring soft cheeses in carry-on luggage but only in containers under 3.4 oz. The TSA treats soft spreadable cheeses like liquids.
