Our first date came about three months after we matched on Tinder. We felt each-other out in the beginning but that quickly evolved into us talking every day and us both deciding that we needed to meet in person. Any one who knows Trevor, knows that he is a car guy through and through. He had tickets to Petit Le Mans, which is a 10 hour sports car endurance race and he asked if I would like to go. As this date would end up being a 15+ hour date we met a few days before just to make sure we weren’t a couple of weirdos (turns out that’s just who we are together). We met at 7 in the morning on Saturday, drove out to Road Atlanta, and had the best day together. We talked, laughed, he showed me around the track, we ate, drank a couple of beers and next thing we knew the race was finished and the fireworks show began. We made our way out of the track and back to the car marking the end of the longest and best first date. The rest is to be written.
The day we met, I knew I had found someone special and after our first date, she had me hooked. Everyday after that has been filled with laughter and love. After knowing Emily for a completely normal amount of time (4 months) I decided to pull the trigger and ordered her ring. Then started the process of working up the nerve to ask her parents for their blessing. April 17th I left work early and met her parents at their home. I’ve done some scary things in my life like joining the military and working in a prison as a correctional officer. This topped it all. I was beyond nervous but walked away with a new family. I told Anita and Stewart that I wasn’t sure when I would pop the question but it would be soon. I got home before Emily got there and I was overwhelmed with excitement. As soon as she walked in, I picked her up in a big hug, spun her around and when I sat her down, I got down on one knee, pulled the ring out of my pocket, and COULDN’T SAY A WORD! After a few seconds I finally asked her to marry me and she screamed “YES!” She couldn’t stop giggling for like 3 days. It’s not the most dramatic or romantic story, but it’s our story, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
