Anna and Anthony met through mutual friends at a house party at UMass Lowell. Both competitive by nature, their first conversation involved Anthony challenging Anna to name pasta sauces with different letters in them. He was smitten when she was able to come up with "pesto" as a sauce with the letter p! They would often bump into each other at house parties or the bar downtown, but the real love story didn't start until months later. They had their first kiss outside of Finn's Pub (now pub 47?? not sure because they keep getting their liquor license taken away) on February 14th, 2015. But then, Anna promptly ran home, (she says like Cinderella after the ball but many argue it was more like Forest Gump) to help out one of her roommates. They didn't see each other again (well they didn't even really see each other) until Anna invited Anthony into Boston to watch the St. Paddy's day parade with her and her friends. However, like the impulsive person that she is, she just couldn't stick to one location, which resulted in Anthony chasing her all over the city. To everyone's disappointment they just couldn't be in the same place at the same time. Don't worry, Anthony (and his friends) still give Anna a hard time about this five years later!! Fast forward a few months, they had their first date at Red Robin because Anna claimed it was better than Anthony's favorite place, Smokey Bones (it wasn't). They enjoyed the rest of their senior years together, graduated together, took sneaky photos at the Tsongas Center together because no one knew they were seeing each other, and continued to spend time together until they made it official at the end of May 2015. Five years later they are still smitten. They bought a house together in Lowell in January of 2018 and live there happily with their rescue pup, Kaia.
Anna, Anthony, and Kaia went on their first "family" vacation to Portland, Maine this past summer. They drove to the waterfront and decided to walk Kaia before checking into their airbnb. Anna, obviously, parked in the wrong place and they began to walk through some beautiful construction. Anthony was anxious to get Anna to a prettier spot and kept asking her if she was sure they were in the right place. Finally, they found the waterfront and Anthony convinced Anna to stop and give Kaia some water. They found a bench that was semi private overlooking the water. Anthony reached into his pocket and pulled out a wooden ring box and asked Anna, "Ok, are you ready?" Anna was excited but confused and thinks she blacked it all out. He then presented her with a fake diamond ring. Anna was so overcome with emotion she immediately declared that she loved the ring and it was beautiful. Anthony then laughed and flipped the ring over to show her it was fake. Anna then thought everything was over and that this was the most confusing and possibly meanest prank someone had pulled on her. Never fear, Anthony got down on one knee and whipped out the actual ring! It was an easy yes for Anna, even though she forgot to actually respond. After all the hoopla, they enjoyed a special vacation in Portland and were excited to share their silly story with their friends and family!
