Travel and Where to Stay

Flight

Delta

Currently, flights from Boston to Lisbon are $700 round-trip, if you leave on September 2nd-9th. We will be on the Delta flight leaving on September 2nd at 11:20 pm. Boston to Lisbon is around 6.5 hours and there are non-stop flights usually available. We highly encourage guests to arrive a couple days earlier than the wedding and plan a week to really enjoy their European vacation. Our suggestion is to fly out on September 2nd, and take a couple days to settle and sight-see.

Hotel Information

If you'd like to find your own hotel, most hotels in Lisbon/Cascais/Sintra are under $200 a night. There are also many Airbnb's. Lisbon is a fun city with lots of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc. Sintra has a lot of sites, castles, and gardens. Cascais and Estoril are beautiful seaside towns with many beaches. Just let us know where you are staying when you book!

Travel Note

Transport from Airport and to Venue

Uber and Bolt (an app similar to Uber) are reliable and readily available for transportation. From the Lisbon Airport to Cascais/Estoril is 30 minutes, and Uber costs around $25. Short rides (from the hotels listed to the venue) from Estoril to Cascais are normally around $10.

Travel Note

Traveling around Lisbon

The most enjoyable way to explore Lisbon is a combination of walking and public transportation. Strolling through the city on foot allows you to take in the full sites of all Lisbon has to offer. The metro is more useful for traveling beyond downtown rather than traveling within it. The metro has four color-coded lines that serve 55 stations. The metro operates every day from 6:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Trains run every 6 to 9 minutes. There are also buses, trams, elevator lines, taxis, and Uber.

Passport Note

Please triple check your passport validity. Your passport should have at least six months of validity if you're traveling internationally. Many countries will deny you entry if your passport isn't valid for at least 6 months after your last day of travel. So, if your passport has less than six months until it expires, it's time to renew!
