Ian and Kathryn's story is surrounded by persistence, friendship, and love. It’s a story not many couples would take on at first glance. It all started when Kathryn was at a house-warming for her friend Maddie, and Ian decided to grab a drink with one of his friends, Deshaun. By a stroke of luck, they all ended up at Shingletown Saloon that night in Ballard. While you may not be familiar with this bar, it is certainly not the place Kathryn thought she would find her eventual husband! While it was lucky they met that night, it was fate that they would be attached at the hip and fall in love. Ian took Kathryn on their first date on the boat the day after they met which earned him the nickname of "boatman" among Kathryn's family. They were inseparable all summer until Kathryn had to head back to Spokane for nursing school. Even then, they gave each other every spare weekend they could. With Kathryn's support, Ian took a job opportunity that would lead him to travel the country for a year and a half. This span of time was made up of countless facetimes and long flights only to see each other for one day. Long distance is hard, but they knew how strong their love was and made it work. After countless "I miss you"'s, they decided enough was enough and that it was time for Ian to come home. They moved in together in Seattle and got a puppy named Franklin while Kathryn's cat Luna also joined the fun. It didn't take long for Ian to realize Kathryn was the one. She was special and meant everything to him like he meant everything to her. Ian proposed in the summer of 2024 and now they are ready to start the rest of their lives together! Since the proposal Ian and Kathryn have left Seattle again, but together this time! Travel nursing has led them to LA for now and they are happier than ever.
