It was Labor Day weekend 2024, and the plan was simple: Maddi, Joe, PJ, and Austin were heading to the coast. A week before the trip, Kirsten was invited to tag along, as long as Austin was okay with it (of course he was). What started as a weekend with four friends would quietly become the beginning of two couples. Most of Saturday, they all hung out together, drifting between conversations and activities, just coexisting in that easy way that happens on group trips. But Sunday night changed everything.
