Mary and Nate are college sweethearts. Over 5 years ago Mary was swiping through her online dating app and came across a picture of Nate and his mom. She obviously swiped right (that meant she liked him). After talking for a few days they arranged a date. On September 30th, 2015 Mary and Nate met at a dumpling shop where Mary actually finished his dumplings for him. They went swimming and talked for hours and then finished the night off with a smoothie from their favorite local smoothie shop. They never stopped talking after that day.
After nearly 4 years of togetherness Nate finally decided it was time to propose. He went with his dad to pick up the ring that he (Mary) designed. He called Mary’s sister, Maggie, and asked if she would drive up from Nashville to take pictures of the moment. She, of course, said yes and started driving at 4am to get to Columbus in time for the proposal. Nate took Mary to the Frankin Park Conservatory, a botanical garden not far from Mary’s childhood home. Once there, the two walked through all the gardens VERY SLOWLY (Nate wanted Maggie to get in position in the palm house). Nate took Mary into the palm house, got on one knee, pulled out the ring, and asked Mary to marry him. Mary,of course, said, “YES”. Maggie appeared out of nowhere and took pictures of the whole thing! The night ended with an engagement party at a friend’s house downtown where we watched the fireworks. It was one of the best days of our lives.
