Our Story

It all started with a canceled first date...

Jordan and Madeline met (rather matched) in the fall of 2019. They both swiped right, and they hit it off right away. During the early conversations, Madeline couldn't figure out how she recognized Jordan. The conversation eventually turned to "What's your major?" and "What classes are you in?" That’s when they realized they were both in ES 490 with Dr. Torres. Madeline immediately went to the class Canvas page to find Jordan’s last name. She then proceeded to look him up on Facebook, and he passed her test! They both went to class the following Monday and awkwardly talked when forced to socialize with random students in the class. Madeline thought she blew it, but Jordan still continued to talk to her. Eventually, Jordan asked Madeline out to get some ice cream for their first date. Madeline enthusiastically accepted, and she couldn't wait for their first date on a Tuesday night. However, Madeline became stressed out with applying to her program and nervously asked if they could reschedule the date to Thursday. Jordan understood the situation and agreed to reschedule. Thursday rolled around, and Madeline met Jordan at Olson's Ice Cream in downtown Eau Claire. Jordan was a true gentleman and paid for their ice cream. They then walked down towards the confluence and sat on a bench and talked. They talked—well, Madeline rambled—for hours. Eventually, she realized how late it was, apologized for ending the date early, and raced home because the Green Bay Packers were playing that night. Jordan wanted to take Madeline out for a second date the next night since it was her 21st birthday, but Madeline had already made plans with her friends. She asked Jordan if he would meet her downtown on Water Street, and he happily agreed. Jordan showed up at the bars, and Madeline was super excited to have him there celebrating with her. Although Madeline does not remember much of that night, she does remember that Jordan walked her home from the bars and made sure she was safe. That's when Madeline knew that Jordan was special. Jordan and Madeline continued to talk and date before making it official on October 19, 2019. The beginning of their relationship truly tested them with Madeline studying abroad and COVID-19 striking just a few months later. However, they continued to date despite the distance. They were finally able to reunite in June of 2020 and spent much of that summer together. They then supported each other through student teaching and subbing after graduation. In the spring of 2021, both of them accepted teaching jobs in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. This is where they welcomed their pups, Stevie and Stella, into their lives. They continued to live here for the first few years of their careers. Throughout their time in Black River Falls, Madeline began to share her love of traveling with Jordan. They have since traveled to all parts of the United States, checking off Jordan's bucket list of visiting every team's Major League Baseball stadium. They’ve seen eight stadiums together, and they hope to visit the rest in the years to come. On their most recent trip to New York City in June 2025, Jordan popped the question in Central Park in New York City. Of course, Madeline said, "Yes!" Jordan even hired a private photographer to capture this major milestone. A few days later, Jordan and Madeline announced their engagement live on the "Today" show. Recently, Jordan and Madeline moved to Belleville, Wisconsin—Madeline’s hometown—and purchased a house in October 2025. They are now enjoying settling into their new home and planning their wedding!
