Highly recommend checking out the National Park! Please note you will need to pay a small entrance fee, or if you have the National Parks pass bring that with you. One quarter of timed-entry reservation slots are saved for next-day visitors, but you must be online precisely at 5 p.m. the night before to purchase. No permit? No problem. Early risers can enter Bear Lake Corridor (open 24 hours) before rangers take their posts at 5 a.m. or enter any other part of the park before 9 a.m. If you are not a morning person, you can enter the park any time after 3 p.m. (6 p.m. for Bear Lake Corridor), with plenty of light still left in the day to experience all the beauty and wonder the Rocky Mountains has to offer.
Rocky Mountain National Park boasts 355 miles of spectacular hiking trails. Check out our list of top trails that accommodate all abilities. (Bear Lake Nature Trail, Alberta Falls Trail, Emerald Lake Trail, Gem Lake Trail, The Loch, Deer Mountain Trail, Fern Lake Trail, Chasm Lake Trail, Sky Pond)
In the Colorado Rockies during the Fall mating season, the bull elk are busy looking for a mate. The unique rutting call of a bull elk can be heard from a great distance. In the early morning or evening hours you can head to Rocky Mountain National Park and stop at Horseshoe Park to catch the sights and sounds of the Elk. In recent years, some of the elk activity has moved into the town of Estes Park, and onto the local golf course. The Elk activity often catches the attention of regional and national media.
While driving up to Estes Park, Boulder is on the way. If you haven't ever been check out Pearl Street for a quick bite and some shops, or even hit the trails and hike the Chautauqua Trailhead. (Boulder’s iconic natural backdrop! 2.7-mile loop trail)
Our favorite restaurant in Estes Park! Go for happy hour and sit in the bar area and order the "chicken nugz" and the potato chips with onion dip - it won't disappoint.
Single barrels or special bottles, the Vault is a collection of The Stanley’s other spirits (ONLY available at the hotel). Most of these selections are 1 of less than 200 bottles in existence. The Vault offers private, curated tastings exploring a little whiskey history, classifications (What’s a bourbon?), and the best way to enjoy it (however you like).
If you know us, you know we love going to coffee shops. Grab a latte and a breakfast burrito or bagel and sit along the river.
Another cute coffee shop we love to visit when in town.
If you want to try some game (elk, bison, venison, truly anything), stop on in here! Right off Main Street.

You can get a fishing license, buy fishing supplies, rent a boat at the marina store, grab some snacks, and spend the day out on the water. The shoreline is the perfect place to sunbathe, and there's a 3.75-mile trail that winds around the lake for biking, hiking, and spotting elk, bighorn sheep, and bears.
If you know us, you know we love a late night slice of pepperoni with ranch. Don’t be afraid to leave with a bottle of whiskey or moonshine.
