This love story began as most 2009 Brooklyn teenage romances do, on a handball court. I was still an amateur at the sport and managed to snag a coveted spot. Barry, being the "pro" that he was, and the bully he is, asked to play me for the court - rude. While I did lose the game, there was a lot of laughter, teasing, and a hint of humiliation - the recipe to any budding romance. I decided to ask my friend for Barry's number and we continued to talk ever since then. It was about a year later before we actually officially started dating.

We were already in the middle of our three week trip in Asia hitting Kyoto, Tokyo, Seoul and Hong Kong. Barry really wanted to propose in Japan due to the amount of beautiful scenery the country had to offer but unfortunately, our 9 year anniversary did not fall on that date. Instead, we were now in Seoul fighting for their lives against deadly Korean mosquitoes. One day, we finished viewing Changdeokgung Palace and he insisted on visiting some popular parts along Mapo Bridge. I was tired but went along with it since it was better than going back to our AirBnB. When we finally found the correct place, I began taking in the lighting on the water reflecting from the bridge and we began talking about the future. That's when he said he couldn't wait for me to be future Mrs. Liao and got on one knee. I was so surprised but managed to say YES!
