Our story begins like most young couples with a chance encounter…online, through a dating app. We used to say we met through a “mutual friend,” never disclosing that our friend’s name was Hinge. Our first date was great and the second one was interesting. In typical fashion, Cameron forgot to reserve a time for the escape room he had planned for us to go to. With three hours to kill, we went to Orlando’s iconic Icon Park. After a somewhat tense ferris wheel ride, we eventually headed back to the escape room where Barrie would prove for the first time in a lifetime of demonstrations that she was far better at games than Cameron was, which is exactly what he was looking for. After two years of dating, we moved into our own apartment which is directly across the hall from the one Barrie used to live in. After three years of dating and a whole pandemic later, Cameron proposed on December 23rd, 2022. Though Barrie would comment that the proposal was “cute,” she would later be hit with what was possibly the greatest surprise party anyone has ever planned in human history. Friends and family from all around crowded into our apartment to give us congratulations and to celebrate. Now, halfway through our fourth year of dating, we have the joy of planning our wedding. We hope you’ll be there and that you found this website to be helpful. We also hope you enjoyed this summary which the New Yorker called “riveting” and the New York Times called “almost as good as the surprise party.” Mark it on your calendars: March 2nd, 2024, Barrie and Cameron’s wedding.
