How We Met

The first time I can remember Kayla was Halloween of 2011. She showed up to a party at my apartment and the only reason I remember her is because she and her friend Kate wouldn’t stop talking in British accents, the entire night. Kayla’s first recollection of me is the time she was at my apartment later that semester when I was running around my apartment like a mad man after having half my head shaved off by my friend Sam Whitney in the middle of our kitchen. He brought my hairline up to its current position today. We didn’t actually talk to one another until the night of the infamous barstool blackout event at House of Blues in February of 2012. After plenty of grape Rubinoff and poor T-shirt ideas, we made our way to Landsdowne St. However, we wouldn’t make it inside. The security staff decided we had overstayed our welcome by the time we knocked over person number 10 patiently waiting to get inside of the HOB. We didn’t get to hang out with Dave Portnoy and the rest of the gang, but that night sparked the beginning of our relationship and I will always remember it, particularly the moment I fell flat on my face carrying Kayla on my shoulder’s as we shamefully walked back to Northeastern’s campus (I mean Qdoba to crush burritos). Our first Valentine’s date was a week later when I took her to Safe House (featuring Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington) and I can still remember how nervous I was walking across the Fens with her to the movie theater that night. I finally worked up the courage to ask her to be my girlfriend after a 10:30-midnight club baseball practice on a Sunday night (March 26th, 2012, yes Kabe I do remember despite forgetting one year). As I am writing this, it has been 7.5 years since that day in January, 2012 when we were kicked out of line at House of Blues and I wouldn’t trade away any of it. I love you Kabe and can’t for May 29, 2020. The day I get to officially call you my wife. We are extremely excited to celebrate with all of you.
