We met in our favorite little mountain town, Dahlonega, GA, while we were both attending the University of North Georgia. We first met each other in passing, on the staircase of our apartment building, that we had both recently moved into. Little did we know at the time, we were next-door neighbors. After having a few more passes on the staircase, Barrett invited my roommate and I to a neighborly Super Bowl party. We both knew we were in trouble when we spent the entire night talking to each other instead of watching the game. The rest is history!
When we first met, I remember wondering if Barrett was Hawaiian. I thought maybe I would get the chance to travel to Hawaii to visit all of his family one day lol! Turns out, he is not Hawaiian, but it became an inside joke for us, and Hawaii became a place that we wished to travel to together. So, it was not out of the blue when Barrett surprised me with a trip to Hawaii to celebrate my birthday. While I thought we were headed to a sunrise birthday breakfast on the beach, he was actually planning to propose. We had an entire beach to ourselves, with mountains and sailboats in the distance, while we watched the Hawaiian sunrise. It was truly the most magical engagement and a day we will remember forever.
