In 2016, in the least glamorous, most unexpected place; a McAlister's Deli kitchen. Among the rush of lunch orders, and the smell of bread, people yelling. Two people met over an expo window full of sandwich tickets. It wasn’t exactly a fairy tale setting, but love doesn’t really care about aesthetics. It just shows up. What started as coworkers turned into best friends. Best friends turned into partners. And partners turned into the kind of love story that only grows. From Killeen to San Antonio, and then from San Antonio to Dallas. Through two moves and countless boxes we built a life together. Not just in new cities, but in new seasons. Each place wasn’t just a new address. It was another chapter. Another adventure. Another memory. Eight years. Eight years of learning each other’s quirks. Eight years of inside jokes. Eight years of choosing each other again and again. Not because it was always perfect, but because it was always worth it. Then on Christmas morning 2024, the next chapter began. Engagement. What better day to celebrate love than a day already filled with warmth and meaning and family? From our second date, I always knew the answer would be YES. From a Deli kitchen in 2016 to a Christmas morning engagement in 2024 our love story wasn’t flashy or rushed. It’s rooted. It’s steady. It’s real. It’s built on laughter, late nights, game nights, and a mutual understanding of how to properly run a lunch rush. Who could have known that when two people met in a kitchen, they were unknowingly meeting the love of their life? Here’s to the love that started over sandwiches… and grew into a lifetime. - Caitlin & Alexander
