Take in the views, the architecture, or fill some time with a museum or a meal at the Prado - Balboa Park is great for quick activity or a leisurely afternoon.
The world renowned San Diego Zoo is centrally located within Balboa Park. If you have even more time, check out the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, about a 40min drive from the Catamaran.
While walking the bay or boardwalk in Mission Beach and Pacific Beach is lovely, for a more active hike, Torrey Pines offers incredible views and is just a short drive from the Catamaran. Notable destinations near the hiking trails include Torrey Pines Golf Course and UC San Diego (the bride's alma mater)!
Cruise around Mission Bay aboard the Bahia Belle. Operated by the Bahia Resort, a sister hotel of the Catamaran, the Belle loops around the bay making regular stops at both hotels.
Home to over 150 breweries and brew pubs, craft beer is a huge part of the San Diego lifestyle. Check out the map here - some are within walking distance from the Catamaran, but if you have time, we highly recommend grabbing an Uber to the Miramar area where you'll find more than 15 awesome options.
If you don't want to go to the actual breweries, 30th street has some of the best tasting rooms around. Between the north end at Fall Brewery and Modern Times Flavordome at the southern end, you can walk along 30th St and hit over 15 tasting rooms.
Fish tacos are a San Diego MUST HAVE, and Fish Shop has some of my favorite in town. A bit of a walk from the Catamaran but you'll pass by loads of other shops, bars, and restaurants along Garnet Avenue, Pacific Beach's main drag.
Fish tacos with an ocean view! Ocean Beach is one of San Diego's funkier beach neighborhoods but these tacos are unbeatable. Hot tip: there is also an excellent ice cream place a couple of doors down...
