Being the modern Jews we are, for lack of a more flattering reason for being on JSwipe, we crossed paths and swiped right on each other with no exchange. After deleting and redownloading the app there was yet another swipe right, with nothing coming of this one either. Fast forward a year to their experiments with Bumble (yes this is a shameless and candid story you're reading) where we finally exchanged words since the woman has to message first (still salty over it). Once we talked on the phone and went out to dinner, immediately followed by gelato and then followed by Ethan following Brittany to her otherwise planned girls-night-out (plans with the expectation the date wouldn't go well) that was that. There was no looking back! No grand gestures, no crazy romantic happenstance, just us finding our perfect match in a very imperfect place. We guess it's true what they say, the third time is a charm.
One amazing thing happened to us in 2020, we got engaged! After a long day of fasting for Yom Kippur, where one of us had a confusing amount of energy for not having eaten all day (Ethan was running on nerves) and all the other wanted to do was lay on the couch and sleep (a normal reaction to fasting) we had a socially distanced dinner with family to break the fast. With the Los Angeles family over for bagels and lox and the New York mischbacha on a hidden facetime, Ethan got down on one knee and very quickly and nervously asked Brittany to marry him. With a pause of at least ten seconds (Ethan says it was closer to an hour) the answer was YES, of course! And so it was ... the beginning of their everything.
